This is a traditional time for honoring the deceased and remembering our ancestors; it is an important opportunity to express gratitude for the kindness of our parents and to carry forward our family traditions; and it is also a crucial moment for promoting new, civilized customs and advancing the transformation of outdated practices. To vigorously advocate a new ethos of civilized, eco-friendly, safe, and frugal tomb-sweeping; to safeguard the county’s ecological environment and public safety; and to ensure that Qingming tomb-sweeping is conducted in a civilized, orderly, safe, and peaceful manner, we hereby issue the following appeal to all residents of the county:
Strive to be a practitioner of civilized tomb-sweeping. Abandon outdated customs and practices
We advocate low-carbon, eco-friendly, and civilized and healthy ways of expressing our grief, such as offering flowers, planting trees in memory, holding family remembrance ceremonies, conducting online memorial services, writing messages of remembrance, and reciting classic texts, so that our mourning is more heartfelt and our memorial rites more refined. We should consciously abandon outdated customs such as burning paper money, setting off firecrackers, lighting incense and candles, and scattering sacrificial offerings, thereby eliminating fire hazards, reducing environmental pollution, and jointly creating a clean, orderly, solemn, and peaceful atmosphere for memorial activities.
Strive to be Guardians of Green Tomb-Sweeping Safeguarding Our Ecological Home
During tomb-sweeping activities, please take conscious care of forests and green spaces: do not litter or discard waste indiscriminately; refrain from picking or breaking flowers, plants, or trees; and avoid using open flames or burning ritual offerings in fire-prohibited areas such as forested regions, grasslands, and scenic spots. By acting responsibly to protect our lush mountains and clear waters, we can make the Qingming Festival truly “clear” and “pure,” honoring and cherishing nature as we remember our ancestors, and turning civilized tomb-sweeping into the most beautiful sight of all.
Strive to be a steward of frugal tomb-sweeping practices. Promote filial piety and simple burials.
Deeply rooted in the traditional virtues of filial piety and love for family, we vigorously promote the principle of “providing generous care in life and simple burial after death,” ensuring that elders are lovingly cared for during their lifetime so they can enjoy their golden years in peace, and that funerals are conducted with simplicity and modesty after their passing, allowing remembrance to return to its true essence. During tomb-sweeping activities, we eschew ostentation, competition, extravagance, and waste, honoring our ancestors in a straightforward and heartfelt manner, thereby infusing Qingming grave-sweeping with both time-honored, unadorned family values and the fresh spirit of our times.
Strive to Be a Pioneer of New Trends Set an example
All Party members, cadres, and public servants throughout the county must lead by example, set a good precedent, and take the initiative in practicing civilized, green, safe, and frugal mourning rituals. They should actively promote modern funeral and burial concepts, consciously resist unhealthy customs, and energetically encourage their families, friends, and neighbors to change their mindsets. In doing so, they will serve as pioneers in reforming outdated practices and leaders in promoting civilized mourning, thereby pooling the powerful collective strength of the entire society for civilized memorial rites.
With deep respect for the past and heartfelt remembrance of our ancestors, let us foster a new ethos of civility and清明. Starting with ourselves and right now, let us honor the逝者 with civilized practices, embrace eco-friendly mourning rituals, travel safely, and observe frugal remembrance—actions that truly embody the spirit of清明. By doing so, we will carry forward the cultural heritage of清明, promote the new trends of our times, and work together to safeguard our beautiful Quwo, ensuring a peaceful, civilized, green, and harmonious清明 Festival!
