"Heaven and earth store liver and gallbladder, and rivers and mountains read temples." In his later years, Mr. Gu Yanwu traveled to the north for 25 years. He came to Quwo for eight times and stayed in Donghan Village in the southern suburb of Quwo for half a year for the last time. He also completed the emperor's masterpiece "Rizhilu" here. Gu Yanwu is an outstanding representative of advanced thought and culture in ancient China, and is also the earliest initiator of "Chinese Dream. He read thousands of books, traveled thousands of miles, and to this end, struggle always. The famous saying "everyone is responsible for the rise and fall of the world" condensed from "those who protect the world, the humble and responsible", is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and spread for a long time. In his speech at the National Symposium on Philosophy and Social Sciences on May 17, 2016, General Secretary Xi Jinping listed 25 thinkers who have emerged in the long history of China, and Gu Yanwu was among them.

At the end of the activity, everyone visited Gu Yuan under the guidance of the commentator. Through visiting the statue, handwriting, works and life story of Gu Yanwu displayed in the exhibition hall, we can feel the patriotic feelings and rigorous learning spirit of this great thinker.

 

 

Biography

Gu Yanwu's Life and Academic Achievements

Gu Yanwu (1613-1682), whose real name is Jiang, whose words are Zhongqing and Ningren, and whose name is Tinglin, was born in Qiandeng Town, Kunshan, Suzhou Prefecture (now Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province) in the Ming Dynasty. He was an outstanding thinker, economist, historian and geologist and phonologist in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Huang Zongxi and Wang Fuzhi were called the "three great Confucians". Gu Yanwu's distinctive interest in learning, his simple and inductive method of textual research, his exploration spirit of creating a path, and his achievements in many academic fields announced the end of the empty style of study in the late Ming Dynasty, opened the forerunner of a generation of simple style of study, and gave scholars in the Qing Dynasty a very useful influence. He stressed that learning must first establish personality, advocated "benefiting the country and enriching the people", and believed that "those who are good for the country should hide for the people". He boldly doubted the monarchy and put forward the idea of "rule of the people" with the color of early democratic enlightenment. He has traveled to Quwo many times and completed the masterpiece "Rizhilu" in Quwo. Gu Yanwu's main works include "Rizhilu", "Tianxia County and National Disease Book", "Zhaoyu Zhi", "Five Books of Phonology", "Rhyme Supplement", "Gu Yin Table", "Poetry Ben Yin", "Tang Yun Zheng", "Yin Theory", "Jin Shi Zi Ji Ji", "Tinglin Poetry Collection" and so on.

Quwo's pleasant natural scenery and simple folk customs have become the source of his creation, and it is in this geomantic treasure land where the three talents of heaven and earth gather that his masterpiece "Rizhilu" has been achieved. The book is divided into 32 volumes and 3 articles. This book is a book written by Mr. Gu Yanwu, who has learned from ancient times, has written notes at any time, and has been written for a long time and many times. He has devoted his whole life to the success of 40 years. The purpose is to "understand the academic, correct the hearts of the people, and set aside troubled times to prosper peace". Mr. Gu Yanwu compared the book to "mining copper in the mountains".

3. He first verified that Quwo was the ancient capital of Jin in Shunzhi. It broke the view that the ancient capital of Jin was in Taiyuan, Huozhou, Wenxi and other places. The tomb of Jin Marquis and his wife, first discovered at the Tianma site in Qucun Town, Quwo County in 1962, once again confirms Mr. Gu Yanwu's point of view.

 

4. It is verified that the location of Jie Zitu hidden in Xiaomian Mountain is Xiaomian Mountain at the junction of Quwo and Yicheng today, not Jiexiu "Mianshan".

 

5. There are many like-minded friends in Quwo, such as Mr. Fu Shan from Taiyuan, Han Xuan, the master of Yiyuan, a Jinshi from Qing Dynasty, and the famous philosopher Wei Hao. They often recite poems and write against each other in Yiyuan. When Mr. Gu Yanwu was giving lectures in Quwo Jiangshan Academy, people from a hundred miles around came to listen to him. There were no empty seats and a large number of talents were trained in Quwo. Therefore, Quwo Middle School is also one of the top ten oldest middle schools in the country. The Gongyuan has been preserved to this day.

Linfen Patriotism Education Base Gu Yuan

 

Gu Yuan is located in Jixiang South Road, Dongcheng New District, Quwo County. It covers an area of 40 acres. It aims to commemorate the history of Gu Yanwu, a great scholar of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, living in Quwo and completing his masterpiece "Rizolu". It is to promote "The rise and fall of the world, everyone is responsible" An educational base for patriotism. Since the opening of the park, Gu Yuan has successively won the "Quwo County Patriotism Education Base", "Quwo County Integrity Education Base" and "Quwo County Care for the Next Generation of Party History and National History Education Base". In December 2020, Gu Yuan was named "Linfen Patriotism Education Base" by Linfen Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government ".

 

Gu Garden, composed of "one garden, one floor, two gardens, twelve scenic spots", is a cultural landscape garden with both north and south architectural styles and pleasant scenery. Gu Yanwu Memorial Hall is divided into four parts: Baishi Building, Zhiyong Garden, Tinglin Square and Yiyuan, with an area of 2077.7 ㎡. The exhibition was completed in May 2018 and the exhibition line is 320m long. The exhibition hall displays Mr. Tinglin's life story, major works and academic thoughts in the form of poetry, calligraphy and painting, quotations, statues, etc.

 

 

 

As a patriotic education base in Linfen City, Gu Yuan gives full play to its role as a base and realizes its social education function. It is open to tourists free of charge throughout the year.
